Long COVID, also known as post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), refers to a condition where individuals experience persistent symptoms or develop new health issues weeks or months after the initial COVID-19 infection, regardless of the severity of their acute illness. Symptoms can affect multiple organ systems and may include fatigue, cognitive difficulties (“brain fog”), shortness of breath, headaches, and various other physical and neurological problems. Long COVID can significantly impact a person’s quality of life and ability to perform daily activities, often lasting for extended periods.
